Ignorance of Marketing Laws is no Excuse
Laws govern all phases of our existence. Laws exist weather we are aware of them or not. We have laws in Science. For instance, we have the Law of Gravity. If you do not understand this law, and violate its terms, you could end up breaking an arm, your neck, or worse. We all eventually, through trial and error figure out the effect of gravity on the way we live our lives and learn to live within its parameters. If we don’t, we pay the price for ignoring them.
We also have Societal Laws. If you aren’t aware of what these laws are, chances are good you will break them. Then what? Depending on the law we break, we can end up in court, jail, prison, or worse. If a defendant were allowed to escape legal responsibility for his acts, merely
by saying “I didn’t know it was wrong/illegal”, the system of using law to
regulate human conduct would collapse. Everyone would use that excuse.
There are also laws of marketing that most marketing and sales people don’t even know exist. There are definitive “Cause and Effect” relationships that are at work within our marketing initiatives. When we break or act counter to any of these laws, we can expect less than desirable results. So what is a marketer who isn’t aware of what the laws even are, to do?
Continue to learn. I highly encourage readers of this blog to stay with me as I cover these 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing. By knowing what they are and creating your marketing initiatives with these laws in mind, and by working within the confounds of these laws, you can expect dramatic results in record time.
